Synopsis
The Galaxy of Arcade Classics collection contains seven arcade-style games ranging from space-fighters to multi-leveled action-adventures. In Star Miner, developed by Positech, players must avoid minefields, destroy rival ships with missiles and lasers, and upgrade and repair ships while mining the galaxy for precious resources. Crazy Drake's six episodes require players to search for the Sacred Golden Egg while battling the evil Dr. FowlBrain as they run, duck, jump, and shoot, collecting power ups like extra lives, points, and time. Three levels (Fun Forest, Haunted House, and Factory Frolics) are available at the start, but the others must be unlocked.
Developer Holodream Software's Nebula Fighter offers players keyboard, joystick, or mouse control as they defend Earth against the invading Venishians. Features include a huge arsenal of 18 varied weapons ranging from torpedoes, smash wave generators, and magnetic probes, to shredders, flamethrowers, and anti-nukes, a host of add-ons such as smart bombs, pulse cannons, and extra ships, and power-ups like shield energy and fire power boosters. Xtreme Games's Booym offers a twist on traditional Breakout-style ball-and-paddle gameplay for one or two players with multiple levels containing lightning, bombs, and more.
Destroying enemies and collecting points are the main objectives in the space-shooter DemonStar, from Mountain King Studios, which features 18 levels playable at four difficulty settings, by one or two players. Players must pick up bonuses and power-ups to upgrade weapons such as proton lasers, ion and plasma cannons, side and rear shooters, mega and scatter bombs, missiles, shield energy, and a magnetic pulse.
The final two games in the collection are well-known titles in the arcades: Speedy Eggbert and Hamumu's classic Spooky Castle: The Adventures of Bouapha. The former is a Special Edition of the side-scrolling action-adventure featuring Eggbert, a little yellow egg, who runs, jumps, and swims through various environments. The latter has the big-headed Bouapha hammering his way through boneheads and ghouls as he searches varied locales in a haunted castle, collecting power-ups and items, and opening new levels.
